Czech it out! 2026 Skoda Kodiaq EV to get 640km-plus range to battle the Kia EV9 and Volvo EX90 as three-row EV segment hots up
Skoda has begun teasing its all-new pure-electric replacement for its Skoda Kodiaq that will arrive with a range of up to 640km when global sales kick-off next year.
Shown off at around the 11-minute mark, during the Czech brand’s 2024 results presentation, the Skoda Kodiaq-replacing large family EV looks like it will draw heavily from the bold 2022 Vision 7S concept.
The third car after the Epiq and Elroq SUVs to be penned using the brand’s new Modern Solid styling, expect the new flagship EV built to rival the large Kia EV9 or Volvo EX90 to be the most radical design yet.

During the tease it’s easy to see the new Skoda EV’s striking T-shaped lamps and illuminated front grille that both appear borrowed from the original show car.

No further information has been revealed but it’s expected the new seven-seat SUV will share the same footprint as the current 4760mm-long Kodiaq.
But it will offer more space inside, thanks to a lack of bulky petrol or diesel engine as well as a much longer wheelbase.
There’s no word if it will carry the Kodiaq nameplate, or if the new flagship EV will switch to a name beginning with an ‘E’ to join the current Epiq, Elroq and Enyaq that are on sale in Australia.

Skoda said along with the Kodiaq EV’s reveal this year it will also preview an all-new battery-electric successor for the Octavia hatch this September at the Munich motor show. That EV should be on sale by 2028.
The Kodiaq EV is set to be one of the very last vehicles to be underpinned by the VW Group’s MEB platform that’s employed by all Skoda EVs.
The new 2028 Octavia EV will be the first Skoda to be underpinned by the Volkswagen Group’s next-generation SSP platform, which it has created purely for electric cars.

The larger three-row Kodiaq EV should come with a new 86kWh battery, with the base versions bagging an efficient 210kW e-motor that drives the rear wheels and provides the headline 640km range.
Dual-motor all-wheel-drive versions will also be available that should produce around 250kW for a sprint to 100km/h in around 6.0 seconds.
Inside, expect designers to play it safe and ditch the original 7S concept’s novel centrally mounted rear-facing child seat.
Instead the Skoda SUV will mirror the next-gen cabin design introduced by the Elroq that was revealed last year.
This includes a slim digital instrument cluster combined with a large free-standing infotainment system for a clean and minimal look.
One difference is the welcome return of some physical buttons following EuroNCAP decision that button-less cabins could prove dangerous on the move and physical shortcuts were now needed to receive the full five stars for safety.
More teases of the all-new three-row Skoda SUV will be released later this year in the build to its unwrapping ceremony.
