China’s Zeekr previews yet another electric medium SUV rival for the Tesla Model Y
Emerging electric car brand Zeekr has revealed yet another Chinese Tesla Model Y rival and it is almost certain to come to Australia.
Zeekr is the latest upmarket electric brand from China’s giant Geely group and it launches within months in Australia with the Zeekr X compact SUV and 009 people-mover.
It also has the 007 sedan and 001 wagon in its Chinese line-up, but no medium-sized SUV.

But now Zeekr vice president Lin Jinwen has posted photos on social media of what appears to be a direct rival for the Model Y SUV.
He suggested the name of the vehicle was apparent in its geometric camouflage, which has led to speculation it will be called the Zeekr Z.
Other resports say it will be called Ark. Right now it is codenamed CX1E and it is one of seven new Zeekr models due by 2026.
Z does make sense considering the X already exists and it’s probably hard to call it the Y!
Details about the new Zeekr aren’t being offered, but it looks roughly the same size as the Geely Galaxy E5, which is understood to be headed our way.
As reported this week, the E5 will be the first Geely group EV to be fitted with the new generation Aegis battery pack.
The Zeekr Z/Ark would follow the same course.
The Polestar 4 is Model Y-sized and another Geely Group product headed our way.
Beyond that Chinese brand XPeng has opened the order book for its G6 Model Y fighter in Australia.
All that remains now is for the Zeekr Z/Ark/CX1E to be revealed and an Australian launch to be confirmed.
