BMW iX3 Australian pricing announced: And it’s very, very competitive

BMW has confirmed Australian pricing for the all-new ix3, with the first model from its vitally important next-generation Neue Klasse electric platform set to arrive mid-year priced from a very sharp $109,900 before on-road costs.

The launch variant will be the ix3 50 xDrive, a dual-motor all-wheel-drive electric SUV that BMW says represents a major technological step forward for the brand as it begins rolling out its new generation of electric vehicles.

First unveiled globally at the IAA Mobility show in Munich last year, the ix3 is the production debut of BMW’s Neue Klasse architecture, technology set and design philosophy that will underpin and influence a new wave of EV and ICE models across the company’s line-up.

The next Neue Klasse model will be the i3 sedan, that is the EV relation to the iconic BMW 3 series.

Despite the all-new basis of the iX3 and the $17 billion (and counting) that BMW’s sunk into Neue Klasse development, the pricing is incredibly competitive. Initial speculation suggested a number beyond $120,000.

The outgoing first generation BMW iX3 was priced at $104,900 for the M Sport Pro in 2025. That car was rear-wheel drive only and based on a modified version of the old ICE X3’s modified platform.

The pricing certianly throws the gauntlet down to arch-rival Mercedes-Benz that also launches its all-new GLC EV in Australia in 2026.

The 50 launch model will later be joined by cheaper all-wheel drive and single motor rear-wheel drive versions, with speculation already suggesting the cheapest model may drop below the luxury car tax.

BMW Australia says the ix3 50 xDrive will come highly specified for the local market, with the primarily aesthetic M Sport package included as standard alongside features such as 20-inch alloy wheels, a panoramic glass sunroof, Harman Kardon sound system and BMW’s Driving Assistant Plus suite of driver assistance technology.

Under the skin, the ix3 uses BMW’s sixth-generation eDrive powertrain technology, combining dual electric motors with a high-voltage battery featuring cylindrical cells and an 800-volt electrical architecture.

Total system output is quoted at 345kW and 645Nm, enabling a claimed 0–100km/h sprint time of 4.9 seconds and a top speed of 210km/h.

Energy is supplied by a 108kWh battery, with BMW claiming a driving range of up to 805km on the WLTP cycle.

The new architecture also supports significantly faster charging, with a maximum DC charging rate of 400kW. BMW says this allows the ix3 to add more than 350km of driving range in around 10 minutes, while a 10–80 per cent charge can be completed in approximately 21 minutes under ideal conditions.

Three-phase 22kW AC charging will also be standard for Australia.

Inside, the ix3 introduces BMW’s latest digital interface technologies including Panoramic Vision – a wide display projected across the base of the windscreen from A-pillar to A-pillar – paired with the company’s new Operating System X and BMW Panoramic iDrive.

The vehicle’s electronics architecture is built around four high-performance computing systems – described by BMW as “superbrains” – responsible for driving dynamics, automated driving functions, infotainment and vehicle comfort systems.

The ix3 will join an expanding BMW electric vehicle line-up in Australia, which already includes models such as the i4, i5, ix1 and ix SUV.

The new model is expected to arrive in Australian showrooms around the middle of 2026.
