Best luxury electric cars of 2020
Most of the electrified efforts in the luxury space have been towards the lower end of the market or include a petrol engine as part of a plug-in hybrid electric system (PHEV).
But there are standouts if living the life electrically is your thing. And there’s a lot more to come throughout 2021 and 2022.
4. Jaguar I-Pace
As the original Tesla fighter, the I-Pace showed traditional car makers could transition to the EV space. While it’s (just) outclassed these days, the I-Pace still makes the most of its ground-up electric vehicle design to provide plenty of EV benefits.

3. Tesla Model 3
Forget lashings of leather in the most affordable Tesla because it’s all about being vegan. The sparse interior fights back with tech and infotainment traditional car makers can’t come close to. That it drives with panache cements the Model 3 as a serious luxury player.

2. Mercedes-Benz EQC
The EQC is old school Mercedes-Benz with plenty of modern thinking. Its bones are borne from the GLC mid-sized SUV, but there’s partial air suspension for a beautifully supple ride. Clever dual motors make for solid performance teamed to tricky software behind the scenes. While it’s not cheap, there’s enough luxury fruit to justify the ask.
