Articles by Stephen Corby

Stephen Corby
Stephen Corby

Stephen Corby is Australia’s most adored, revered and award motoring journalist, at least if you ask his Mum, and has been writing for print and online publications in Australia and around the world for more than 30 years, which makes him older than the idea of electric vehicles.

Or at very least, he’s been around for so long that he can remember people laughing about EVs and using phrases like “this will never catch on” and “who’s going to drive that, the Duracell bunny?”
Indeed, his first experience of driving an electric car – the truly forgettable Mitsubishi I MiEV – was so painfully underwhelming that if you’d told him at at the time he’d one day be working for a website called EVcentral.com.au he’d have laughed his head off, before asking you what the hell a website was.
Stephen gets a hard time from his colleagues and random members of the public for only driving very expensive super cars, but his argument is that no man’s Instagram feed (@stephencorby) is a realistic expression of his actual life.
In a career that has spanned almost every continent (and he’ll damn well get to South America eventually), Stephen has driven on deserts in Mongolia, race tracks in South Africa, snow and ice in Austria, public monuments in Prague, cliff edges in Scotland and across a staggering amount of Australia.
In that time he has worked for Car and Driver and The Washington Times in the US, the Evening Standard and Daily Mail in London as well as the venerable and hugely respected Autocar Magazine and the widely loved Top Gear UK magazine
In Australia has previously been the editor of both Wheels Magazine and Top Gear magazine and was a Car of the Year judge at both publications.
Stephen is also regularly published in The Robb Report where he is also the lone Car of the Year judge, CEO Magazine, Wish Magazine in The Australian newspaper and The Australian online.
He also has a weekly column in The Weekend Australian Magazine.
Stephen also writes for mainstream motoring sites including https://www.carsales.com.au and https://www.carsguide.com.au.
