Australia’s new cheapest electric car! MG ZS EV undercuts BYD Dolphin and GWM Ora with mega drive-away deal – but you’d better be quick

Australia has a new cheapest EV, with MG announcing seriously competitive pricing for its MG ZS Excite that undercuts its core Chinese rivals in the BYD Dolphin and GWM Ora.

How cheap? the MY23 MG ZS Excite is now $34,990 drive-away across Australia, putting it below the Dolphin ($39,241 drive-away in NSW) and the GWM Ora ($35,990 drive-away in NSW), and earning it the official tag of Australia’s cheapest EV.

There is a catch, however, with the pricing in place only for the month of August at this point.

“MG has been leading the charge with attainable electric vehicles since the launch of the local
award-winning ZS EV and MG4, with reduced nationwide drive away pricing on some of our
range Australia wide, we maintain our leadership position in this space,” says MG Motor
Australia Chief Executive Officer, Peter Ciao.

The Excite model is fitted with a 50.3kWh battery, delivering a WLTP driving range of up to 320kms. Elsewhere, there’s three driving modes (Eco, Normal, Sport), three-stage regenerative braking and V2L functionality.

Elsewhere, there’s a leather-trimmed steering wheel, push-button start, LED daytime running lights, a big 10.1-inch central screen with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and 17-inch wheels.

There are MSRP savings across most of the MG ZS and MG4 range, outside the drive-away deal, too. But again, they are only in place for August for now.
