2025 Volvo XC90 SUV revealed

The 2025 Volvo XC90 has been teased ahead of its official debut on September 4, with the refreshed three-row luxury SUV primed to switch to a full range of electrified powertrains and sit alongside its next-gen battery-electric EX90.

Few details have been shared but it’s thought the facelift will be as comprehensive as they come, as the current second-gen was introduced back in 2015 and is thought it will have to live on until 2030 (when Volvo goes all EV).

To ensure it remains relevant among much younger and more modern rivals, we expect the facelift to bring EX90-inspired design cues and a radically different interior with a larger floating display, fewer buttons and more premium materials.

The powertrains are likely to retain the familiar 2.0-litre turbo-petrol internal combustion engine but feature more powerful electric motors and larger battery packs to ensure the BMW X5 and Mercedes-Benz GLE rival has an all-electric range of at least 100km.

Volvo said “there might be a surprise or two” for viewers in the official reveal livestream, with some guessing a high-performance concept or an even more luxurious four-seat version might be on the cards.
