2025 Volkswagen ID.3 upgraded again ahead of Aussie launch: Includes more power, faster charging and enhanced tech
VW has once again upgraded its Volkswagen ID.3 compact electric hatch with a comprehensive range of updates.
Included in the overhaul are a power boost, faster charging and a new augmented reality head-up display, a fresh wellness app and a more powerful sound system.
Like other recent Volkswagens, the VW ID.3 features the larger 12.9-inch touchscreen as standard. It now incorporate a more intuitive menu and a ChatGPT AI-powered onboard assistant and illuminated touch sliders.

The gear-lever has been relocated as part of the update to a separate steering column switch that mirrors the latest VW ID.7 column shifter.
In most markets the Volkswagen ID.3 Pro S gets a new more powerful 170kW rear-mounted electric motor.
In other markets the ID.3 Pro S will still be available with the original 150kW output but it can be boosted at any time to the full 170kW figure by paying for an over-the-air update.
With the extra power, the ID.3 Pro S can now launch from 0-100km in 7.1 seconds – 0.8sec faster than before.
Not only is the new electric motor capable of producing more power it’s more efficient too. When combined with a 77kWh battery the ID.3 can cover up to 559km on the WLTP test cycle – 13km more than before.
The battery also offers a pre-conditioning function that sees it reach optimum temperature before charging. This allows it to be charged at up to 175kW and slashes charging times in colder climates.
Other extra kit thrown in as part of the recent revisions include a new head-up display that incorporates augmented reality for clearer navigation instructions.
Improved safety equipment includes an exit warning, an updated optional park assist plus and an enhance semi-autonomous cruise.
The new Wellness App adjusts the lighting, sound and air-conditioning for Fresh Up, Calm Down and Power Break functions.
The last upgrade introduces a more powerful 480-watt Harman Kardon sound system.
It’s expected the updated Volkswagen ID.3 Pro will arrive along with the ID.3 GTX hot hatch later in 2024
Volkswagen Australia has confirmed it will arrive after the ID.4 and ID.5 launch in July or August of this year.
Priced correctly this could do well. I will certainly be looking at it to replace our VW Golf.
